Vetenskapligat namn:Citrus japonica syn. Fortunella. 
Det finns dock olika idéer om släkförhållanden för dessa små citrusar som finns i några olika varianter varför det finns både synonym och eventuell nytt vetenskapligt namn på dessa framöver.

 

Kumquat, är en citrusväxt som är relativt lättodlad och ofta får rikligt med väldoftande vita blommor och sedan små ca 4 cm stora, avlånga orangefärgade ätliga frukter.
Bladverket är friskt, mörkgrönt och ofta ganska tätt. 

 

Kumquat är även som fullvuxen relativt liten till växten, ca cm,  vilket gör att den passar mycket bra att odla i kruka. 
Den vill ha gott om plats för rötterna. Välj storleken större kruka vid omplantering om rötterna är synliga i botten av krukan, annars räcker det med samma storlek med lite ny fräsch jord.

 

Kumquat är mer härding än många andra citrusväxter och klarar kortvarigt temperaturer ner mot C.
